The word Holi is usually pronounced how lee. The word Holi is usually pronounced how lee. This festival is celebrated by everyone for two days. It falls on the full moon day in the month of March. This festival is celebrated at the end of winter and the beginning of spring. 

The festival is also called as Holika Dahan. As part of the festivities, old objects are burned in bonfires to mark any evil force’s burning from last season. 

Prayers are also traditionally offered as part of these ceremonies. During the festival that night the moon shines in full shape in the sky.


The actual celebration will begin the next day. In India, Holi is usually celebrated on the second day with great colourfulness. People are enjoying the most joyous celebrations of the scorpion in the streets by sprinkling colours on each other and throwing coloured water. 

Every colour used by people on the day of the Holi festival has a specific meaning.

    The blue colour represents Krishna. Red is an indicator of marriage, yellow is a symbol of happiness and tradition,

          Yellow is generally well used for pleasing traditional things

        The colour green is usually used for new beginnings to a new life.
